It’s a joy to be able to present a retrospective of the work of Barbara Beebe. It’s a joy to look around the gallery and see the many kinds of art she has done, all of it marked by intense observation; an intense, overriding sense of design; thorough knowledge of each material and dedication to craftsmanship; and, yes, a pervasive and intense joy.
I hope you’ll join us for the opening on Friday evening, September 6, from 5:30 to 8:00. If you’re not able to come then, please make a visit during the next two months. The show will be up through October 26. There will be a mid-show reception on Friday, October 4, from 5:30 to 8:00. Steve Lindsay is playing jazz piano at both receptions.
If you can’t come to the show, you’re welcome to request a printed booklet of selected pieces. The booklet also contains appreciations by artists Jed Devine and Sam Cady and collector Leila Richards.
Thank you for coming to the show and/or perusing images online or in the booklet. Please look closely, and allow yourself to smile and be struck, while looking at each piece, by some combination of freshness, audacity, cleverness, clarity, intensity, and joy.
