Kimberly Callas

nude.jpg Kimberly Callas has been sculpting from the figure for over fifteen years, She studied with some of the top figurative instructors in the United States.  At the New York Academy she became well versed in the human anatomy and the techniques of modeling clay and casting in a variety of materials.  She also developed her own esthetic, which combines the Greek-inspired Western tradition of idealized naturalism and the scientific observation with symbolic treatments of the humand body and the human condition found in the indigenous cultures, past and present.  Both in college and on her own, Ms. Callas has studied world religions and cultural myths and has discovered common elements of ritual transformation, which lie at the heart of her work.
